Week 9 Story: The Origin of Rain and Thunder

Image
"Grandma, the cookies are read--AHHH!" the little girl screamed as a loud bang filled the sky, rushing to her grandmother. "It's okay, dear. I'll get the cookies out of the oven and you can stand right by me." replied the grandmother. Jessie spent one weekend every month with her grandmother, but none that she remembered had been this stormy. The rain was pounding on the roof and the sky kept lighting up, soon followed by a loud crashing noise.  Jessie did not like this and would get really scared every time she heard the loud bang. The grandma had baked cookies as a distraction, but it was not working as she had hoped. Jessie turned to her grandmother and asked, "Why does the sky light up and make a loud bang?" The grandmother smiled. "Here, let's get our cookies and milk, sit by the fire and then I'll tell you." They did as so and sat down by the fire. The grandmother began to tell the story: "Well, Jessie, this is what my ...

Week 8 Progress

Image
I am pretty happy with my progress thus far, especially doing the easy 2 point of extra credit from the Check-In/Connect. Those 2 points are adding up and allowing me to finish hopefully by Week 12. I honestly do not have a routine. I just sit down and grind out this class whenever I have some down time and need a break from my other classes. I think my blog and website are going great so far. I think I am doing a pretty good job so far, so I am not sure what I should change for the second half of the semester. I am satisfied with my blog and storybook so far, so I do not want to change them yet. I think my writing is going good and I do not know what new thing I should try. (Image from Pinterest )

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

Image
I think the comments are of moderate quality from my classmates. I am very far ahead of others, so I do not have many comments on my posts. And honestly I haven't found the time to look at the comments on my posts much, either. I think I am giving about as much as I am receiving in terms of quality comments. I try to give some encouragement and constructive criticism from my initial reactions. I definitely could be giving better quality but I am on such a time crunch for everything else that I do as much as I can while being efficient. The only way I am getting to know people is through their original blog posts, not comments. The Introductions are the most useful but I can also tell more about them from the topics they choose to write about and how they write it. I am very happy with my introduction and personal blog. I could probably spend a bit more time adding details in my comments to other people so that I can be more helpful. I do not want to make any changes to my personal ...

Week 8 Reading and Writing

Image
I think the reading and writing assignments were working better at the beginning and are better now for people doing portfolios. Personally, I think that the reading and writing assignments are just extra busy work for the people doing the storybooks because we have already picked our readings for them.  I am pretty happy with my blog and project website. I think that they are nice and organized while also being aesthetically appealing. I would say the storybook is my biggest accomplishment in my writing for this class because that is my most creative work and I really enjoy it. My reading notes are somewhat helping with my story post because they sum up the story but I tend to just look at the original story more. This is my favorite image from my previous blog posts because it is a beautiful picture of landscape, which are my favorite type of photos. (Image of  Lover's Leap in Laos ) I think I am getting the most out of my reading/writing experiences in class and am not sure...
